I can not believe it has been 9 years already. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. For people of my generation, this will be what the JFK assassination was to my parent's generation.
Where were you when you first heard that a plane hit the World Trade Center? Everyone has a story to tell - especially living in this area of the country. I was at work and we thought (like everyone else) that a small Cessna hit the WTC. How in the world could a 737 fly into the building? Who could ever imagine what was about to unfold...
After we found out what happened and the towers went down, my company sent us home. I remember going home and not moving from in front of the TV for hours, maybe days ... while I watched all the coverage of this unthinkable tragedy on TV. It still blows my mind when I really think about what happened.
Did anyone know someone that died in the 911 attacks?
I had a haircut client (when I used to be a hairdresser) that died in the 911 attacks. Margie Benson. She worked in the city at Port Authority I beleive. I always think of her every year. I know her sister as well - they were very close.
Today I realized that Julianna never experienced 911 and will only get to learn about it in school and from people my age. I wonder what event in her lifetime she will experience that will be equivalent to the "911" of my time, and the "JFK Assassination" of my parents time?
Everyone please set aside a minute of their time tomorrow and Remember the 911 victims, their families and the 911 recovery workers.
